Three Silly Squirrels

It never fails.  Friday morning arrives and it’s slow getting up out of bed.  Somehow I manage to get myself up and start my day.  Friday’s are especially tough because my boyfriend gets to sleep in and relax.  I on the other hand, am off to work!  Although it is a fair trade off because he has to get up on Sunday’s and I can sleep in.  I couldn’t imagine having to work on the weekends (other than my usual chores).

Of course I am running late for work…  I didn’t feed the cat, didn’t pack my lunch, didn’t have time to stop for my Friday coffee treat.  I barely remembered it was jeans day at the office.  Phew, glad I didn’t miss out on jeans day!

I grabbed my purse and was out the door.  Well, almost!  I glanced out the back door to see three silly squirrels playing under the tree.  What a sight it was to see.  They were running, chasing, somersaulting…  I couldn’t believe what was going on right in front of me.  Those little squirrels didn’t have a care in the world.  They were having a blast.  My crazy cat was at my feet and didn’t even notice them!  That is probably a good thing because he might have gone nuts watching them.

Suddenly, it didn’t really matter that I was late anymore.  Work would still be there when I got there (I did make it on time by the way).  I was refreshed, energized and ready to take on my day.  Who knew three silly little squirrels could make my day! Sometimes I need to remember to stop… take a step back… and enjoy what’s right in front of me. What a great Friday it turned out to be!

  1. Ah, who knew what three silly squirrels could do? So glad you took the time to enjoy and laugh - I've learned that as I'm trying to get the girls out the door to drop them off at 'school.' Don't want to miss those every day opportunities of real life - that's what we live for, not work! :)

    Glad you wrote again!

  2. The joy that God has created for us in truly amazing, if we only take time to notice. I'm glad that it was a good start to your Friday after being frantic to get out the door. It's the little things in life that make everything look and feel brighter. So glad you are continuing to write - you're doing great!
